British Victorian forts like Fort Delimara are discreetly positioned, utilising effective camouflage techniques that are still effective today, 150 years later. Originally armed with heavy artillery to protect Marsaxlokk harbour and southeast Malta, the fort underwent major upgrades over the years. The end of World War II brought all existent fortifications into question, and the fort suffered decline, abandonment, and misuse. Now, being restored, Fort Delimara is a solid testimony of Malta’s colonial past and a fine British war machine.
