Every country has its fair share of eerie ghost tales which through the ages become popular haunting legends. Heritage Malta teamed up with the Arts Council Malta and Wicked Comics Malta to produce this publication on the ghosts of the Maltese Islands, for their folkloristic element. The publication has 9 anecdotes in all. The first 5 are recounted through comics, a an ever growing popular creative and skillful artistic expression, by both foreign and local artists. The remaining 4 are short accounts of ‘resident ghosts’ at Heritage Malta sites, namely the National Museum of Natural History, Fort St Angelo, the Inquisitor’s Palace and Fort St Elmo.
Unequivocal scientific proof of the existence of ghosts is unsubstantial in each case.
Nonetheless, the countless and persistent reports of their sightings cannot be discounted as sheer tricks of the mind, or are they?
Ultimately, the veracity of such beliefs is as legitimate as the belief in afterlife itself.
