Description
The epic siege of the island fortress of the Knights Hospitaller by the Turkish army of Suliman is one of the most compelling stories in the history of the western world. With an army of 30,000 men which doubled in size as the siege dragged on, the Turks believed the small force of 500 knights plus 8500 other troops would be easily crushed. However, despite constant pounding from the Turkish siege train, heavy casualties and appalling suffering the knights managed to hold out until their relief came some 3 months later.
