The Sette Giugno was above all a show of unity by the Maltese people in its entirety, although for different reasons. People in the streets were an extension of their delegates in the National Assembly, discussing a new constitution. Malta started removing the shackles of colonialism.
The Sette Giugno is a milestone, a crucial event uniting past struggles and future aspirations, which undoubtedly deserves more consideration in an assessment of Malta’s modern history and in its political and overall development.
