I was given the occasion to preview the draft of Professor Attard’s book ‘The MalteseLegal System Volume I’. I found it masterly exposition of our Law both the substantive part as well as that concerning organization and procedure.
It is a scholarly summing up de quo jure utimur. Exhaustive, well written, up to date, it is not onlyu notable for its academic value, it has also great pedagogical virtues. it can serve as an introduction to Maltese Law for the Maltese student, as well as for the foreign lawyer who would wish to become acquainted with our way of dealing with law and legal problems. Its clarity recommends it well to the informed general even if ‘lay‘ public.
This is an excellent tool for the proper dissemination of knowledge about our law, and it would recommend that it should be published and made available to a wide swathe of young and not too young people ‘desirous of learning the law’ as Justinian would have put it.
