This book is the first time that the story of the Industrial Revolution of Malta has been told as a connected, coherent course of events.
“The choice of the title itself should perhaps serve as a warning: this book does not take the title in the way it is usually used, that is to refer to the passage from a feudal, agrarian society to industrialisation.
On the contrary, it uses the term to glorify what was done in Malta in two separate and distinct phases in recent history: the end of the Royal Naval Dockyards and its passage to its hybrid sort of present mostly under the aegis of the Maltese government; and the post 1971 spurt of industrialisation of Malta.”
