Description

The Maltese Nobility was founded by Count Roger of Normandy in 1090 A.D. and has been further expanded over the centuries by the Kings of Sicily, the Sovereign Grand Masters of the Order of St John of Jerusalem (The Knights of Malta) and by several European Monarchs. This book is the very first exhaustive study of the genealogy and the heraldry of the Maltese Nobility. It accurately details the very diverse European origins of the noble families and of their Coats-of-Arms. Its appeal therefore is obviously not limited solely to the Maltese reader.

It is lavishly illustrated, containing 36 Coats-of-Arms and 35 other black and white illustrations. In addition, it contains 45 genealogical tables and reproductions of several old family trees.

Forewords for this work have been written by Mr. J.P. Brooke-Little M.V.O., K.ST.J., M.A., F.S.A., F.H.S., K.M. (Grand Cross Grace and Devotion) Norroy and Ulster King of Arms, Registrar and Librarian at the College of Arms in London and Chairman of the Council of the Heraldry Society (U.K.) and by Baron Jerome De Piro D’Amico Inguanez K.M. (Hon.&Dev.), President of the Committee of Privileges of the Maltese Nobility.

The Genealogy and Heraldry of the Noble Families of Malta is packed with detailed genealogical and heraldic information which has taken the author over nine painstaking years of research to compile. It is a must for lovers of Heraldry all over the world as well as being an essential reference volume for students of Maltese history and culture.
