The pair of exquisite, pedestalled candelabra, commonly known as the Cippi of Malta, made an early in the appreciably long list of artefacts enjoying international renown. Marked by the bilingual inscriptions in Phoenician and Greek, these two votive offerings in honour of the omnipotent Melqart, played a pioneering role in deciphering one of the earliest known writings in the history of humanity.
