Description
This first input to a non-military aviation history from my pen is a modest contribution to enlighten readers of a void that needed to be filled in 1987. Initiatives and aviation prospects during the early Independence chapter of Malta’s history were very scant. Independence meant hard work, collective effort and some disagreements too. This first account (or work!) is to specifically write of my direct involvement since the end of the sixties, and in particular the birth and success of the Malta-Gozo Link. My love of aviation and my desire to see my country move forward in this highly beneficial sphere was, and still is, paramount.
My link to aviation started right after the war, with the first balsa projects going through to the real thing in the late sixties. In my next contribution I sincerely hope to write about more initiatives taken, for further progress in this our fair land.
