This delightful book focuses on fine Maltese lace adorning a ‘first’ selection of high profile Maltese ladies. It brings to light some of the finest work of our artists and artisans designed and produced in the past.
The silk, cotton and linen lace is all from the reserve collection at Casa Rocca Piccola (with only two exceptions). The items illustrated are from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, all assembled through the inheritance of two family aunts, donations, and also Nicholas de Piro’s purchases in Malta and abroad over a period of almost forty years.
Almost a hundred Ladies are depicted wearing famous Maltese lace in this book. They appear in this diverting publication with an interesting an entertaining script. The Ladies of Malta were photographed by artist and photographer Patrick J. Fenech in the rooms of Casa Rocca Piccola.
