Description
Maltese born Artist-Educator, Joseph Calleja (b. 1924), has been working in Sculpture, Kinetics, Painting, Print-making and Photography since he moved to Canada in 1958, after studying at the Malta School of Art, Valletta (1945-47), at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford (1948-49), and at the Regent Street Polytechnic-School of Fine Art in London (1955-58). He has exhibited widely in Canada and a first retrospective of his sculptures and paintings was held in Malta in 1996. Calleja’s works are featured in numerous collections including the National Gallery in Canada, Hamilton Art Gallery, Ontario, and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Malta.
