Description

Readers should bear in mind that the organization was always entirely independent of the Malta Police.

The history is illuminated by first hand accounts of those involved. It will appeal to all, to serious students and ordinary readers alike. Many will want to know something about the different people who served in the Admiralty Constabulary in the past, and I am sure they will appreciate their traditions and their hopes.

It is based on official records which were kept at the Force Headquarters and which I went through, sometimes under heavy stress.

The Admiralty Constabulary not only guarded Service Establishments during and after the Withdrawal, but also undertook to guard all the buildings, Married Quarters and Establishments vacated by the Services.

Joseph Galea

Constable

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II requested the first copy of this book when published.

The Author was a Constable for 29 years and having been asked to record the history of the organization, he was given two years within his police career to devote to his research work so that this book could be published. He had the authority and indeed was ordered to stay in the official office at HMS St. Angelo until he had gathered all the information he required before the Admiralty Constabulary stood down on 31st March 1979.

The Author dedicates this book of the history of The Admiralty Constabulary Malta to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and all members of the Force.
