Description

This collection of essays, written by Mark A. Sammut Sassi over a period of slightly more than two years and edited by researcher, academic and public intellectual André P. Debattista, analyses the administration and political flaws of Malta’s eighth Prime Minister Joseph Muscat (in office from March 2013 to January 2020).

The topics covered range from the purely political to the cultural and, at times, the philosophical too.

Dr Sammut Sassi, who made a name for himself with his best-selling analysis of the Panama Papers scandal in Malta, L-Aqwa fl-Ewropa: Il Panama Papers u l-Poter (2016), here provides his real-time analysis of Muscat’s political thought and actions — these essays appeared in the national press as events unfolded.
The essays are embellished with quick glances at some of the author’s favourite books in his own personal library.

DR MARK A. SAMMUT SASSI, (1973), has co-/written a number of books in English and Maltese, on law, history, and politics, published in Malta, the UK, and Italy. He studied law and translation at the University of Malta, legal history and legal theory at the University of London, historical sociology and management at the London School of Economics, and historical studies at Oxford University. He is a Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies (London), as well as a member of the Malta Historical Society, the Royal Historical Society (London), and the European Society for Comparative Legal History. He was conferred the warrant of Notary in 1997, and, for a while, he taught history of law at the University of Malta.
