The catalog of this collection is certainly an important contribution to the Order’s history. Research on this collection is now possible. The archives at the Cathedral Museum, Mdina, have only recently been reorganized.
The whole series of 72 volumes, covering the years 1549 to 1772, comprise the ‘spoils’ of more than a thousand members of the Order of Malta. The compiler, Chev. Joseph Galea, has included additonal biographical annotations on each knight, gleaned from his knowledge and experience of the Archives of the Order.
It is earnestly hoped that more catalogs and studies on the Malta collection will eventually be published, evincing the wealth of material contained therein, dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries.
