Suzanne Piscopo

Susanne PiscopoSuzanne Piscopo tħobb l-ikel, tħobb tgħallem u tħobb il-kultura Maltija. Hija tħarrġet Malta bħala għalliema tal-Home Economics, u mbagħad kompliet l-istudji tagħha barra minn Malta fejn iffukat fuq in-nutrizzjoni, il-promozzjoni tas-saħħa u s-soċjoloġija tal-konsum. Hija minn dejjem stinkat biex taqsam dak li taf mal-oħrajn u dejjem emmnet li t-tagħlim effettiv jista’ jkun ukoll wieħed ta’ pjaċir.

Suzanne kitbet l-ewwel sensiela ta’ kotba għat-tfal – Stories from Foodland –fl-2001. Fl-2011 ħarġet traduzzjoni bil-Malti ta’ dawn is-sitt stejjer, miġbura fi ktieb wieħed – Stejjer minn Ikelandja.  Ir-raġel ta’ Suzanne, Michael Piscopo, għamel it-tpinġijiet fid-diversi pubblikazzjonijiet.

Suzanne beħsiebha tkompli tikteb kotba u stejjer ġodda għat-tfal bil-Malti u bl-Ingliż, u anke toħloq materjal edukattiv għall-użu tal-għalliema.

Suzanne ta’ spiss tkun fuq il-mezzi tax-xandir fejn titkellem dwar l-ikel, is-saħħa u l-konsum sostennibli.

Hija tiddelitta fil-fotografija, speċjalment tal-ikel u tal-pajsaġġ Malti u Għawdxi.

Ursola Borg

Ursola Borg BDL BooksUrsola Borg was born in Xaghra, Gozo. She attended the Xaghra Primary School and Secondary School in Victoria, Gozo. The area where she grew up overlooked Ramla Bay. She was surrounded by nature and this instilled in her, from a very young age, a love of simple things, beautiful landscapes and nature in all its moods. She is a very down-to-earth person and this also influences her writing. Her children’s stories reflect her upbringing in the rural countryside of Gozo. When in her teens, she moved to Malta to further her studies.

She is married to Carmel, a mother to two daughters and also a grandmother. Her hobbies are reading, gardening and travelling. She is a TEFL teacher and loves her job. She also enjoys meeting people from different cultures as this broadens her horizons. Her dream to publish her stories for children is seeing the light of day as some of her books now have been published and more are in the pipeline.

Valerie Brincat

altAs a mother, I understand every parents desire to help their children achieve their full potential. Through my personal experience, I have realized that children love learning when they get to hold something and take action during the activity.

Involving the children keeps them motivated to learn.  I started making visual activities for my three children. I would stay up late at night finding suitable images. Printing… laminating… cutting each picture and placing velcro on the backs of each one. Whew! So exhausting! I would spend hours in my kitchen snipping away. My kids were always very enthusiastic to see new activities because they really enjoyed learning with the resources I made for them.
