Description
A leading researcher and medievalist, Prof. Stanley Fiorini has once again provided the public with another volume in the series Documentary Sources of Maltese History, which the Malta University Press is proud to publish. These are important primary sources of Maltese and Gozitan medieval history which, as a result of this growing collection are now accessible in printed and annotated form. They will enrich any university library and indeed any private library for those interested in Malta’s medieval history.
For example. documents in this volume throw light on the early relations of the Maltese with the Order of St John and on the Jewish community in Malta. particularly in 1492 at the time of the expulsion of Jews from Malta and elsewhere in Europe. Prof. Fiorini’s work is thus an indispensable reference for medieval Maltese history and beyond it.
This is the thirteenth volume in the series, Documentary Sources of Maltese History, which so far has included twelve volumes comprising a sub series dedicated to the Palermo Chancery ‘Maltese’ Records. Prof. Fiorini, who is also fluent in Latin, is continuing to work on this series so I expect this latest volume to be followed by others in due course.
