Description
Photographer Stephen Busuttil began working with the Malta Police in 2005. His objective was to develop a portfolio of images for his Fellowship examination and to showcase police work in his first solo exhibition.
Surpassing his personal aim, his Fellowship became the benchmark for industry standards in Malta, then a panel of international judges awarded him the ‘Overall International Photographer of the Year’ during a photographic ceremony held in the United Kingdom. A consecutive win came a year later, once again beating out thousands of other photo entries.
With industry achievements and international accolades, Stephen was well-prepared to display his award-winning collection of images at Malta’s Centre for Creativity. His first solo exhibition was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Police in June 2009 to coincide with the 195th anniversary celebration of the Malta Police Force.
The Times of Malta featured his iconic ‘Father and Son’ image with a double-page spread. Throughout the summer his images of police work continued to gain local and foreign media coverage and the idea of publishing his work became warranted.
A permanent exhibition of his photography can also be seen at the Malta Police Force Headquarters. Stephen’s images capture the spirit of policing which has proven to be his lifelong aspiration, while his passion for photography continues to strengthen.
