Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society of Mqabba is launching an academic publication entitled “SICUT LILIUM: Devozzjoni u Ritwal tul is-Sekli”, edited by local Historian and National Archivist Mr Charles J. Farrugia, including contributions by various professional historians and writers. The book treats the Devotion, cult and conflicts related to the Feasts in Honour of Our Lady of Lilies celebrated both overseas and in Malta, particularly in Mqabba. It adopts scientific and innovative methods of research and analysis while revealing new documents conveying links between beliefs and the political scenario and contributes to studies about Feasts and politics over the course of centuries. The publication entails modern methods of analysis, considering not only dates and chronology, but examines a mixture of devotion, ritual, politics and power on an international, national and local level.
